Saguenay

Saguenay  est une ville de l’est du Québec (Canada). Située dans une vallée aux abords de la rivière Saguenay, elle est en amont du fjord du Saguenay et en aval du horst de Kénogami. Du nord au sud, elle s’étend de la rive nord du Saguenay au massif des Laurentides. Sa superficie totale est de 1 136 km2. Avec ses 144 142 habitants elle est la septième plus importante ville et la cinquième plus importante agglomération du Québec.

Métropole polycentrique de la région administrative du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Saguenay compte trois arrondissements urbains, Chicoutimi, Jonquière et La Baie et leurs secteurs périphériques Laterrière, Canton-Tremblay, Lac-Kénogami et Shipshaw. Avant les fusions municipales de 2001, tous ces arrondissements et secteurs étaient des municipalités indépendantes.

Ce regroupement de villes originalement monoindustrielles établies sur les affluents de la rivière Saguenay possède une économie principalement tertiaire qui repose sur l’industrie de l’aluminium, l’industrie forestière, ses commerces et ses institutions. Saguenay compte une université francophone sur son territoire ; l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi; un aéroport et une base militaire de la force aérienne du Canada; la Base des Forces canadiennes Bagotville.

Montréal

Montréal est la métropole du Québec au Canada. Elle est le centre de la culture et des affaires de la province. Le Vieux-Montréal a été déclaré arrondissement historique en 1964.

La ville est située sur l’île de Montréal, dans l’archipel d’Hochelaga, en bordure du Saint-Laurent, à proximité de l’Ontario et des États-Unis.

Montréal a accueilli l’Exposition universelle de 1967 et les Jeux olympiques d’été de 1976. Elle est l’hôte annuel du Festival des films du monde de Montréal, du Festival international de jazz de Montréal, du festival Juste pour rire, du Festival Montréal en lumière et du Grand Prix de Formule 1 du Canada. Le club de hockey des Canadiens de Montréal y a élu domicile dès sa création en 1909.

Montréal est considérée comme la deuxième ville francophone dans le monde après Paris (2,1 millions de personnes) et est la seule métropole francophone en Amérique du Nord. Sa population est plus du triple de celle de Québec, la capitale de la province.

En 2010, la ville comptait 1 692 080 habitants, et son agglomération près de 4 millions. En 2006, environ 52,4 % de sa population était de culture et de langue française, 32,4 % était de culture et de langue autre que le français et l’anglais et 12,5 % était de culture et de langue anglaise, faisant de Montréal une ville interculturelle.

Ottawa

Ottawa  is the capital of Canada, the second largest city in the Province of Ontario, and the fourth largest city in the country. The city is located on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec, located on the north bank of the Ottawa River; together they form the National Capital Region (NCR).

The 2006 census had the city’s population as 812,129, and the metropolitan population as 1,130,761. In 2009, Ottawa-Gatineau’s population was estimated at 1,220,674. Mercer ranked Ottawa with the second highest quality of living of any in the Americas, and 14th highest in the world. It was also considered the second cleanest city in Canada, and third cleanest city in the world.

Founded in 1826 as Bytown and incorporated as « Ottawa » in 1855, the city has evolved into a political and technological center of Canada. Its original boundaries were expanded through numerous minor annexations and ultimately replaced by a new city incorporation and major amalgamation in 2001 which significantly increased its land area.

The name « Ottawa » is derived from the Algonquin word adawe, meaning « to trade ». Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley was home to the Algonquin people prior to the arrival of Europeans during the fur and subsequent lumber trade eras. Initially an Irish and French Christian settlement, Ottawa has become a multicultural – bilingual city with a diverse population.

Gatineau

Alma

Alma est une municipalité du Québec située au Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. Elle fait partie de la MRC de Lac-Saint-Jean-Est, dont elle est le chef-lieu.

Le recensement de 2011 y dénombre 30 904 habitants ainsi que 33 018 habitants dans son agglomération.

Deschambault-Grondines

Deschambault-Grondines est une municipalité du Québec incorporée dans la municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) de Portneuf, dans la région administrative de la Capitale-Nationale. Elle a été créée en 2002 par la fusion des villages de Deschambault et de Grondines. Elle borde la rive nord du fleuve Saint-Laurent, entre Trois-Rivières et Québec. La municipalité est membre de la Fédération des Villages-relais du Québec.

On y trouve depuis 1992 une importante aluminerie de la société Alcoa qui emploie 550 personnes et qui produit annuellement 253 000 tonnes métriques de matériau.

Au recensement de 2006, on y a dénombré 2 032 habitants.

Laval

Laval est à la fois une région administrative du Québec, une municipalité régionale de comté et une ville du Québec au Canada. Les trois entités administratives partagent le même territoire. Bien que les organisations soient autonomes dans leur champ de compétence, les membres élus au conseil de la ville sont aussi représentés aux deux autres paliers administratifs. Hormis quelques îlots, Laval est presque entièrement situé sur l’île Jésus. La rivière des Mille-Îles la sépare de la Rive-Nord de Montréal et la rivière des Prairies, au sud, délimite sa frontière avec la ville de Montréal. La Ville de Laval est membre de la Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal depuis juin 2000.

Avec sa population estimée à 401 553 habitants en 2011, Laval est la troisième ville la plus peuplée du Québec ; elle est aussi l’une des villes du Québec ayant la plus grande superficie. 66 % des habitants ont comme langue maternelle le français, 7 % l’anglais et 26 % sont allophones. 81 % de la population est de confession catholique.

Mont-Royal

Mont-Royal est une ville de l’agglomération de Montréal, enclavée dans la ville de Montréal. La ville comprend une population de 19 276 habitants (en 2008). Elle est protégée par le Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) et par le Service de police de la ville de Montréal (SPVM). Elle possède également son propre service de sécurité publique (SPVMR) qui assure la protection des résidents et le respect des règlements municipaux.

L’église Saint-Joseph est la principale église de cette ville.

Trois-Rivières

Trois-Rivières est une ville du Québec (Canada), située sur la rive nord du fleuve Saint-Laurent à l’embouchure de la rivière Saint-Maurice au cœur du Québec. Elle se trouve à mi-chemin entre Québec et Montréal. Trois-Rivières est le chef-lieu de la région administrative de la Mauricie et un évêché catholique. La ville de Trois-Rivières, au dernier recensement, comptait 131 338 habitants en 2011.

Fondée en 1634, elle est la deuxième plus ancienne ville du Québec.

Montebello

Montebello est une municipalité vivant principalement du tourisme, située sur la rive nord de la rivière des Outaouais, entre Ottawa et Montréal. Ce village faisait partie de la seigneurie de la Petite-Nation ; l’un des seigneurs a été Louis-Joseph Papineau, le manoir de ce dernier est un site historique national. Le village est surtout connu pour le Fairmont Le Château Montebello, un hôtel qui est d’ailleurs la plus grande structure en bois rond au monde. La municipalité est membre de la Fédération des Villages-relais du Québec.

Matane

Matane est une ville du Québec établie dans la MRC de Matane dans le Bas-Saint-Laurent. Au plan touristique, la ville se situe dans la région de la Gaspésie. La rivière Matane y a son embouchure dans le fleuve Saint-Laurent.

Le recensement de 2006 y dénombre 14 742 habitants.

Sainte-Anne-des-Monts

Sainte-Anne-des-Monts est une ville du Québec, située dans la MRC de La Haute-Gaspésie dans la région de la Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Elle est située en rive droite de l’estuaire du fleuve Saint-Laurent.

La municipalité est née de la fusion de l’ancienne municipalité de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts avec celle de Tourelle le 2 février 2000. Le recensement de 2006 y dénombre 6 772 habitants.

Rivière-du-Loup

Rivière-du-Loup est une ville du Québec au Canada située sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent à 200 km au nord-est de la ville de Québec. La ville est le chef-lieu de la municipalité régionale de comté (MRC) de Rivière-du-Loup dans le Bas-Saint-Laurent. La nouvelle ville Rivière-du-Loup a été créée le 30 décembre 1998 à partir du regroupement de la ville de Rivière-du-Loup et de la municipalité de la paroisse de Saint-Patrice-de-la-Rivière-du-Loup. La ville est un centre régional important grâce au palais de justice de Rivière-du-Loup, au Centre hospitalier régional du Grand-Portage (CHRGP), au CLSC Rivières et marées et à son campus étudiant. Entre les années 1845 à 1919, elle était connue sous le nom de Fraserville.

Westmount

Westmount est une ville du Québec (Canada) de l’agglomération de Montréal dans laquelle elle se trouve enclavée.

Elle a une population de 20 865 habitants (en 2007) et une superficie de 4,02 km².

Les principales artères commerciales de Westmount sont l’avenue Greene, l’avenue Victoria, la rue Sherbrooke et la rue Sainte-Catherine. Une autre artère importante est la rue Atwater. Une station de métro s’y trouve : Atwater.

Le parc Westmount a été conçu par Frederick Law Olmsted et Calvert Vaux.

Clark County

Clark County is a county located in Southern Nevada. The county had a population of 1,951,269 at the 2010 census,  and is the most populous county in the state of Nevada, accounting for nearly three-quarters of its residents. Las Vegas, Nevada’s most populous city, has been the county seat since the county was created.

The county was formed by the Nevada Legislature by splitting off a portion of Lincoln County on February 5, 1909, and came into existence on July 1, 1909. The Las Vegas Valley, a 600 sq mi (1,600 km²) basin, includes Las Vegas as well as the other primary population center, the unincorporated community of Paradise.

Much of the county was originally part of Pah-Ute County, Arizona Territory before Nevada became a state. The county was named for William Andrews Clark, a Montana copper magnate and U.S. Senator. Clark was largely responsible for the construction of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad through the area, a factor heavily contributing to the region’s early development.

Clark County is today known as a major tourist destination, with 150,000 hotel and motel rooms. The Las Vegas Strip, home to most of the hotel-casinos known to many around the world, is located not within the City of Las Vegas, but in unincorporated Paradise.

Clark County is coextensive with the Las Vegas–Paradise, NV Metropolitan Statistical Area, a metropolitan statistical area designated by the Office of Management and Budget and used by the United States Census Bureau and other agencies for statistical purposes.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas  is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada and the county seat of Clark County^. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, and fine dining. The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its consolidated casino–hotels and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 31st-most populous city in the United States, with a population at the 2010 census of 583,756. The 2010 population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 1,951,269.

Established in 1905, Las Vegas was incorporated as a city in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in that century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city’s tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. There are numerous outdoor lighting displays on Fremont Street, as well as elsewhere in the city.

Las Vegas often refers to the city plus some areas beyond the city limits, especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, and sometimes the entire Las Vegas Valley. Los Angeles

It has an area of 469 square miles (1,215 km²), and is located in Southern California. The city is the focal point of the larger Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana metropolitan statistical area and Greater Los Angeles Area region, which contain 12,828,837 and nearly 18 million people respectively as of 2010, making it one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world and the second largest in the United States. Los Angeles is also the seat of Los Angeles County, the most populated and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the United States, while the entire Los Angeles area itself has been recognized as the most diverse of the nation’s largest cities. The city’s inhabitants are referred to as « Angelenos. »

Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood.

Nicknamed the City of Angels, Los Angeles is a leading world center of business, international trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, and education, and has been ranked the third richest city and fifth most powerful and influential city in the world. The city is home to renowned institutions covering a broad range of professional and cultural fields and is one of the most substantial economic engines within the United States. The Los Angeles combined statistical area (CSA) has a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of $831 billion (as of 2008), making it the third largest economic center in the world, after the Greater Tokyo and New York metropolitan areas. As the home base of Hollywood, it is also known as the « Entertainment Capital of the World, » leading the world in the creation of motion pictures, television productions, stage productions, video games, and recorded music. The importance of the entertainment business to the city has led many celebrities to call Los Angeles and its surrounding suburbs home. Additionally, Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984.

Pasadena

Pasadena  is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of 2010 United States Census, the population of Pasadena was 137,122, making it the 180th-largest city in the United States, down from 168th place in 2009. Pasadena is the ninth-largest city in Los Angeles County, and on June 19, 1886, became the fourth to be incorporated in Los Angeles County, after Anaheim (February 10, 1870) and Santa Ana (June 1, 1886), which were part of Los Angeles County until Orange County was formed in 1889. It is one of the primary cultural centers of the San Gabriel Valley.

Although famous for hosting the annual Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses Parade, Pasadena is also the home to many scientific and cultural institutions, including the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (actually in La Cañada Flintridge), Pasadena City College (PCC), Fuller Theological Seminary, Art Center College of Design, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Norton Simon Museum of Art and the Pacific Asia Museum.

San Diego

San Diego  is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest city in California. The city is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, immediately adjacent to the Mexican border. The birthplace of California, San Diego is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, long association with the U.S. Navy, and recent emergence as a healthcare and biotechnology development center. The population was 1,322,553 based on latest population estimates for 2012.

Historically home to the Kumeyaay people, San Diego was the first site visited by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States. Upon landing in San Diego Bay in 1542, Juan Cabrillo claimed the entire area for Spain, forming the basis for the settlement of Alta California 200 years later. The Presidio and Mission of San Diego, founded in 1769, were the first European settlement in what is now California. In 1821, San Diego became part of newly independent Mexico, and in 1850, became part of the United States following the Mexican-American War and the admission of California to the union.

The city is the county seat of San Diego County and is the economic center of the San Diego–Carlsbad–San Marcos metropolitan area as well as the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan area. San Diego’s main economic engines are military and defense-related activities, tourism, international trade, and manufacturing. The presence of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), with the affiliated UCSD Medical Center, has helped make the area a center of research in biotechnology.

San Diego County

San Diego County is a county located in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of California. It is the most southwestern county in the 48 contiguous United States. Its county seat and largest city is San Diego. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, San Diego County had a population of 3,095,313 people, making it the second most populous county in California- first being Los Angeles County.

San Diego County has 70 miles (110 km) of coastline. It has a mild Mediterranean to semi-arid climate. There is also 16 significant naval and military locations of the United States Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard, including Naval Base San Diego, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Naval Air Station North Island.

San Diego County defines the metropolitan statistical area of San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos, and in its metropolitan capacity as Greater San Diego. San Diego County is also part of the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan area. This area, having about five million people, is the largest bi-national metropolitan area shared between the United States and Mexico.

Arising from an effort by the state government to identify regional economies, San Diego County and Imperial County are part of the Southern Border Region, one of nine such regions. As a regional economy, the Southern Border Region is the smallest but most economically diverse region in the state. However, the two counties maintain weak relations and have little in common aside from their border proximity.

From north to south, San Diego County extends from the southern borders of San Clemente (Orange County) and Temecula (Riverside County) to the US-Mexico International Border and Tijuana. From east to west, San Diego County stretches from the Pacific Ocean to Imperial County.

Rouyn-Noranda

Rouyn-Noranda est une ville-MRC et depuis 1966, le chef-lieu avec Ville-Marie de la région administrative de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue à l’ouest du Québec au Canada. Son économie est actuellement basée sur l’agriculture, l’exploitation et transformation des ressources minières et forestières, la fabrication d’équipements pour ces industries et un secteur tertiaire développé, dont les services administratifs.

Le recensement de 2011 y dénombre près de 41 012 habitants. En date de 2011, la ville compte 41 012 habitants, lui donnant le 26^e rang des villes en importance au Québec.

Rouyn et Noranda furent fondées suite à la découverte en 1917 d’un riche gisement de cuivre sur les rives du lac Osisko. La fusion des deux villes fut réalisée en 1986 et avec plusieurs municipalités environnantes entre 1995 et 2001. Cette dernière s’est regroupée d’abord avec les villages limitrophes de Saint-Guillaume-de-Granada, de Lac-Dufault et de Beaudry, puis le 12 décembre 2001 avec Bellecombe, Cléricy, Cloutier, D’Alembert, Destor, Évain, Mc Watters, Arntfield, Montbeillard, Mont-Brun,Rollet et Cadillac, désormais appelées quartiers, ainsi que des territoires non organisés de Lac-Montanier, Lac-Surimau et Rapides-des-Cèdres.

Même si elle constitue une municipalité régionale de comté, son nom officiel reste « Ville de Rouyn-Noranda ».

Val-d’or

Val-d’Or est une ville industrielle et notamment minière de l’ouest du Québec, dans la municipalité régionale de comté de La Vallée-de-l’Or de la région administrative Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Elle est la seconde ville en importance de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue après Rouyn-Noranda.

Son nom rappelle la présence d’or dans son sous-sol. Le toponyme algonquin de la ville est Ozawaconia Odena.

Benito Juárez

Solidaridad

El Municipio de Solidaridad es uno de los diez municipios que integran el estado mexicano de Quintana Roo y uno de los más jóvenes en el país al haberse formado el 28 de julio de 1993 por decreto del Congreso del Estado durante el gobierno de Mario Villanueva Madrid. Su cabecera es la ciudad de Playa del Carmen.
